Beta — Subject to Change
PicoPixel is currently in beta. The platform is experimental and being used as a learning and development tool while we gather feedback and decide on the direction of the project. This privacy policy may change significantly as the product evolves.
1. Overview
PicoPixel is built with privacy in mind. We do not sell, share, rent, or monetize your personal data in any way — and we never will. For website analytics, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics and Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic, page performance, and usage trends. This helps us anticipate operational needs such as storage, infrastructure capacity, and service reliability. This policy describes what we collect, why, and how we protect it.
2. Information We Collect
Email address: Collected as part of the OAuth sign-in process (e.g. Google, GitHub). We store your email so we can contact you if needed — for example, regarding your account, service updates, or security notices. If you opt in, we may also use it to send you our newsletter with product updates.
Anonymous platform and website metrics: We collect aggregate data about how the platform and website are used — such as total user counts, general traffic patterns, page views, and similar operational metrics. This data is used solely to understand usage, plan resources, and keep the service running.
Entity association: When you sign in with an email associated with a recognizable organization, we may publicly note that PicoPixel is "used by people at" that organization — for example, by displaying their name or logo on our website (e.g. "Used by people at Arasaka Corp."). We will never identify you individually or disclose your email address. Only the organization's name may be referenced — never the individuals associated with it.
No individual-level analytics: We do not have the ability to easily view individual user activity — for example, which specific user created which file or performed which action. Our analytics are strictly aggregate: total user counts, general usage trends, and similar high-level metrics. Accessing any individual-level data would require manually querying our internal databases, which is not part of our normal operations and is not something we do.
What we do not collect: We do not use analytics data to identify you personally, profile who you are, or sell your information. Cloudflare Web Analytics and Google Analytics may process technical information such as browser, device, traffic source, page URL, and approximate location data for aggregate reporting.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your email address to communicate with you about your account and, with your permission, to send product updates via our newsletter. Anonymous platform and website metrics are used to monitor the health and growth of the service. We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise monetize your personal data — period.
4. Authentication & Account Management
PicoPixel uses third-party OAuth providers (such as Google or GitHub) for sign-in. We do not store passwords. If you need to update your account information — such as your name, email, or profile picture — you must do so through the OAuth provider you used to sign up. Changes made there will be reflected in PicoPixel.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. We take reasonable measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.
6. Cookies
PicoPixel uses cookies to maintain your session after signing in. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies to measure website traffic and usage. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell your personal data.
7. Your Rights
You may request access to or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. To update your account information, please make changes through your OAuth provider.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice.
